Hailing from the great state of Texas – where everything is bigger – I think Texans may love bigger too. Since I am not sure that there is a couple out there that is more truly, madly, deeply in love then Lillie & Doug.
During the ceremony they were both so giddy – giggling, laughing and with a total perma-smile on both their faces. It clearly was the happiest day of their lives. And we were so thrilled to be able to photograph all the lovely moments and memories for them.
On their very first official date, they realized that they both could recite every sentence from the 1993 cult classic True Romance. And although that movie house favourite is sorta a boy meets girl love story. Telling the story of comic shop clerk Clarence (played by Christian Slater) and the hooker with a heart of gold Alabama (played by Patricia Arquette) who meet and fall in love in spite of a series of hijinx only Quentin Tarantino can dream up. So more like a boy meets girl, boy kills girl’s ill mannered pimp, boy & girl take pimp’s cocaine in a case of suitcase misidentification and run for their lives kinda love story. It is clear that Lillie & Doug share a wild love for each other that would also overcome anything Mr. Tarantino could throw at them.
A true romance like this deserves a truly lovely setting. Enter stage left: the wonderful beaches of Santa Teresa, Costa Rica. Wedding heaven really. Lillie & Doug tied the knot at the luxe Flor Blanca resort. Big shout out to Katie Graves wedding planner at Flor Blanca that created such a lovely day for our love birds.
One of our fave images is of Lillie & Doug’s first dance. They danced like no one was watching to “Paradise” by Coldplay – Doug dipped her and it was pure magic. I think even guardian angel Val Kilmer as Elvis Presley (Tarantino has some crazy ideas) would say it was “a hunka, hunka burning love”.
