Kat & Thomas met at McGill University (yeah for my alma mater!) and have been together for many years. But they have been busy bees – Kat is doing her residency and will be an incredible doctor and Thomas is a pilot. And somehow in the midst of their busy lives, they planned a picture perfect fall wedding complete with DIY awesomeness.
They said I do this past fall at one of Ontario’s newest and sweetest venues – Cambium Farms. Just a short 45 mins outside the hustle and bustle of Toronto lies an incredibly rad barn and farm. That will make you feel you are a million miles from gridlock traffic and smog. We shoot quite a lot of barn weddings – but they are always in New England – typically in Maine. So to have a barn wedding in Ontario – so close to Toronto – we say three cheers for Cambium Farms! They stole our heart and it is one of Ontario’s most unique wedding venues.
Their ceremony took place outdoors amidst the forest and the pines with their favorite people in the world surrounding them. Yup, it was just as lovely and amazing as it sounds.
The look and feel was all done by Kat – the decor was rustic and allowed the wonderfulness of the barn to shine. The sparkling lights in the evening made it very magical as they hosted 170 guest. We adored that Kat opted for a short and super sweet wedding dress and birdcage veil. She looked timeless and the dash of red on her lips was perfection. The old vintage doors that acted as the seating chart for their guests were gorgeous and really set the mood. And as if she didn’t have her work cut out for her with all the design and decor – Kat also made the wedding cake herself too. It looked and tasted delicious!!
Kat’s mother actually embroidered each and every blanket with the wedding monogram which was a perfect thank you gift for their guests. Plus they came in wonderfully handy to snuggle up in once the sun went down.
So there you have it my Torontonian friends – one of Canada’s loveliest wedding venues is less than an hour away. We are also thrilled to say that Wedding Bells magazine will be featuring this magical barn wedding at Cambium Farms in the Fall/Winter 2015 issue. Hip, hip, hooray!
