As most of you lovelies know, A Brit & A Blonde spends November through May in sunny Costa Rica shooting destination weddings. From June through October we are back in Canada and the US shooting summer and fall wedding fabulosity. Which means  – yes, we are using SPF 45 all year round and no, we don’t miss digging our car out of the snow.

So this past September, we had the great privilege and honour to shoot Jason & Yaryna’s seriously splendiferous soiree. A Brit and I both worked in advertising agencies for many a year before we made the move to life behind the lens. And Jason & Yaryna are both ad agency peeps who brought their creativity and eye for beautiful design to their wedding. Listen, Yaryna’s retro style dress is from top bridal boutique White Toronto– (pssst….it’s a Carolina Herrera wedding dress) so yeah its awesome. And her red Valentino bow heels to match her red pout – epic. Don’t think for one second that her groom would be upstaged by his stunning new bride – Jason channeled James Bond in his bespoke tuxedo from Gian Paolo Mazzotta (a most amazing place to buy a rad suit for your wedding) and for a bit of flare – yellow socks. Adorbs.

These two impeccably dressed lovebirds decided to take the TTC (Toronto’s public transport streetcar) to their wedding ceremony and reception at The Burroughes building on Queen Street West. They live right downtown so shooting their wedding portraits in and around Queen Street West was the perfect homage to their Toronto neighbourhood.

Wedding planner Lisa Allain of Visions of Platinum & Garnet rocked the casbah as only a casbah can be rocked. What can I say this Burroughes Building wedding had exposed brick, balloons & bow ties. Blimey.

I truly heart this wedding.

Hola amigos and amigas – we have had a really busy year shooting some pretty gosh darn spectacular weddings. And alas we have been a bit lax on the ‘ole wedding blog posts. So I humbly apologize and hope that this sun kissed destination beach wedding in Tamarindo, Costa Rica makes us BFFs again. And we totally pinky promise  and cross our hearts not to go so long with the next wedding blog posts. We have some more loveliness lined up to share over the coming weeks. Because sharing means caring.

Crystal and Dan really wanted a simple and understated event with vintage details. They chose to have their wedding ceremony on the beach in Playa Tamarindo, Costa Rica and host their reception at the nearby mountaintop Villa Paraiso. Sounds super dreamy right. Well, it was! Kirsten & Jonathan – the creative geniuses behind Four Winds Weddings are Costa Rica destination wedding planners and designers with an eye for awesome. Oh and did we mention that Kirsten is also a killer florist by trade. Yup, we won’t tell you that she is also an incredible surfer and has abs that you can bounce quarters off of.  Listen I went to the gym 3 times this week so I don’t feel as bad. But I digress. Back to stunning destination wedding details by Four Winds Weddings – for the ceremony they featured locally made teak benches. The aisle was lined with driftwood posts and green beach glass salvaged bottles tied with twine. They used bunches of star of Bethlehem for the post vases with a look that was fresh, but muted, as to not distract from the natural beauty of the stunning coastline. For Crystal’s bridal bouquet, Kirsten used blown white roses, star of Bethlehem and mini kumquat fruit for an accent of color. Gotta love that. So fun!  Did I not say she was a crazy rad talent.

Crystal and Dan live in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. And have the cutest baby named Beckett who was by mommy’s side for most of the ceremony as the guest of honour. Included in Crytal’s bridal bouquet was the perfect charm “I love you to the moon and back” – which is a quote from the much loved children’s book Goodnight Moon that Crystal has read to Beckett since the first day he was born. The reception decor was designed to compliment the feel of the ceremony. Lovely blue satin napkins, jute burlap and a collection of green beach glass mason jars and bottles that acted as vases. A ceiling of warm cafe lighting and crackle glass candle votives were used at the head table to provide soft lighting for dining. Guests indulged in a three tiered chocolate ganache wedding cake and danced under the stars.  And that ladies and gentleman is how you have a picture perfect destination wedding.
